Henry Mosier, an
OU track star (1908 - 1912) whose lifetime involved Oklahoma
land development that created an estate and a bequest to
University of Oklahoma Foundation, Inc. of almost $2 million
dollars has sparked - century later - a modern day land run.
Holdings in Logan, Kingfisher, Canadian and Oklahoma counties of
the Henry and Ida Mosier estates is being sold by Eddie Haynes,
Inc. on May 27th, 2008, in El Reno, Oklahoma for the Foundation,
St. Mary's Episcopal church of Edmond, Oklahoma, and the
Episcopal Diocese of Oklahoma. Though Mr. Mosier's career
involved pharmacy, his eye ran to good property, and the buying
and selling of good farmlands led to an accumulation of 18
excellent farms in central Oklahoma that are soon to be sold at
auction in The Oklahoma Land Rush of 2008.
The properties
are both productive and attractive - most with some trees, ponds
or running water, or both - and rich Oklahoma soil. All are
well-located and close to Oklahoma state highways or
interstates. Since the year 2000, Mosier's legacy has funded
$900,000 for OU scholarships in track and pharmacy and in the
last year alone - over a quarter of a million dollars. On
Tuesday, May 27th as the land is offered on the auction block,
those buyers who are quickest with their hands, rather than
feet, will be the new property owners. The public auction will
take place at Redlands Community College in El Reno, Ok at
